Calculation of Risk of Down Syndrome (CaRDS-Xema)
CaRDS-Xema is intended for calculation of risk of Down’s syndrome (trisomy 21), trisomy 18, intrauterine fetal growth retardation and neural tube defect (spina bifida) during 1st and 2nd trimester of pregnancy based on laboratory, USI and individual patient data.
CaRDS calculates current gestational age based on date and results of USI (should be input manually) and date of the last menstrual period (LMP, calculated automatically). Based on gestational age, CaRDS automatically requests for 1st or 2nd trimester set of parameters.
Together with gestational age, CaRDS takes into account patient’s weight , number of fetuses, patient’s race, existence of diabetes. In a separate file, an automatic accumulation of all statistical data for all investigations made is carried out, these data used for calculation of user’s own medians.
For displaying results, CaRDS provides several options:
•data on your PC display;
•a cumulative file which may be easily processed by any laboratory results data management system;
•a flexible user-defined printout template
Number of the input parameters, median and SD values for each parameter and week of gestation is determined by the user. As a default, we recommend data obtained with Xema ELISA or TR-LIFA (DELFIA) kits: PAPP-A, free beta-HCG, AFP, HCG, Unconjugated Estriol.
