2B1 S.r.l. Company Profile
2B1 srl
2B1 was founded in 2004 as an idea incubator in the field of medical devices targeting the Italian and European market, with particular focus on Traumatology Devices and Spine Devices.
We collect original ideas, proprietary or patentable, aiming at their design and development in order to make them suitable for MD market, in new and rapidly growing MD market fields.
2B1 produces Medical Devices through manufacturing firms by means of dedicated agreements. Design and development is focused both on our own products and on customers’ products: 2B1 supports customers to rapidly introduce the ideas into the market, providing turn-keys medical devices.
Technical documentation, Finite Element Simulation, Testing, Test Supporting, Certification FDA & CE Mark, Project Managing complete the services provided. 2B1 is certified UNI EN ISO 13485:2004.
As regards the design and development aspect 2B1 combines its experience in medical device for orthopaedic and spine area with its know-how in the field of biomechanics.
Implantable prosthesis for orthopaedic applications are made of both traditional and innovative materials, as PEEK (poly-ether-ether-ketone) for its very interesting and performing properties in load bearing applications, as it best suits to the specific issue.
2B1 is strongly oriented in developing new and patentable products, and in the process addressed to obtain CE mark, rather than FDA Approval.
Our experience is supported by the continuous and constant research activities lead in the field of biomaterials and biomechanics. 2B1 has close relationships with university, Politecnico di Milano, and research institute, as Sardegna Ricerche, in Italy.
Engineers use models of CAD analysis and very advanced FEM analysis that simulate any condition of test.
Of great importance to the company are its human resources: highly motivated people form 2B1 staff and the human environment, as well as the quality of life, is a way of working at 2B1. We consider these conditions essential to transfer the same philosophy, through our products, to our final user and patients.

Implants and protheses 2B1 Products
The products with 2B1 brand belong to traumatology field as MiroS, a mininvasive system for intramedullary transcutaneous fixation and Injection Pin, an ostheosynthesis screw, as well as to Spine area, with Boma, a vertebroplasty set. 2B1 has designed and developed for a customer an arthroscopy device for the knee ligaments. Design activity is now focused on Spine and Biomaterial applications. At the present time 2B1 is developing 2 spinal devices in collaboration with other companies. At present our customers are leader companies of the MD field and multinationals.
All 2B1 devices target at mininvasivity, best load transfer, highest biocompability, easy-to-use concept, safety and improvement in order to overcome the hurdles and challenges of today surgery.
BOMA
New System for Vertebroplasty
The BOMA system is made up of a range of devices that are supplied singly or in a kit.
- 5 ml ergonomic Syringe;
- pull-on connectors;
-Stainless steel needles 3.2 mm in diameter of three different lengths: 100, 120 and 150 mm;
- Flushers for needles of three different lengths;
- Transparent extension 10 cm long.
All are Luer Lock connections;
Injection Pin
Injection Pin is an osteosynthesis cannulated screw used to carry PMMA or regenerative substances in the bone tissue.
Its injection system allows to deliver the substance in the exact point in which it is needed.
Injection Pin is available with a Complete Kit (screw’s lenght ranges from 31mm to 61 mm) and an Instrumentation Kit is available too.
All the kits are disposable and sterile.
MicroPile
Mini Invasive Reduction and Osteosynthesis System.
The intramedullary use of steel wires can be considered a common asset of all orthopaedic surgeons.
By way of example, in case of distal fractures of the radius (epiphyseal), the primary objective is the stable reduction of the bone segment, its maintenance and to allow the patient has adequate motility of the wrist.
MicroPile has been designed to allow this objective to be attained.
After having gently bent the wires to 90° is necessary to bend them again medially and laterally so that they are positioned parallely at a distance not exceeding 1 cm.
Wires are then fastened to the clip provided.
